Favorite Children's Book

One of my most favorite children's books is called "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant" by David McKee. It is a wonderful book about diversity and accepting yourself as you are. Elmer tries to change his appearance because he wants to be accepted by the other elephants, but in turn he realizes that they like because he is different. It is a great book for kids and adults because it opens your eyes to the world and how differences can make you unique and special. I love the story and how beautiful the symbolism is behind the story. It is an easy book for kids and adults to relate to in their everyday lives.

  1. Hi Natasha,
I enjoyed reading about the choice of the book and what the gist of that book is. I have not heard of many of the children's books here but I want to step out to a children's store and read them all to improve my knowledge about children books and curriculum.

When I read the description you provided, I remembered reading one of my friend's google talk chat window quotes and it said "The minute you accept you are different is the moment you become normal". Your chosen story is a great way to help children build their confidence!

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi Natasha, I don't think I've read this book yet but I'm going to search for it at work and hope they have a copy. This sounds like a wonderful story that all children should hear. Everyone is different and it should be embraced.
    Thank you for this post!
