DEC Code Of Ethics

I. Professional Practice (Professional and Interpersonal Behavior)

1. We shall demonstrate in our behavior and language respect and appreciation for the unique value and human potential of each child. 

II. Professional Development  and Preparation

1. We shall be responsible for maintaining the appropriated national, state, or other credential or licensure requirements for the services we provide while maintaining our competences in practice and research by ongoing participation in professional development and education activities.

III. Responsive Family Centered Practices (Enhancement of Children's and Families' Quality of Lives)

1. We shall demonstrate our respect and concern for children, families, colleagues, and other with whom we work, honoring their beliefs, values, customs; languages, and culture.

These ideals are significant to my professional life because of the importance of children. If we are not good role models and have a solid foundation, how can we be fit to teach anyone especially children. We are here to shape their minds and help them develop to their fullest potential. Our reputation and programs should make families and our community feel comfortable. Keeping our schools up to date with our responsibilities to the state and  city regulators will help us maintain the  most up to date facilities that is safe and reliable for our community. Developing trust and reliability is important in the service of children. Parents and children should feel comfortable and secure with our facility, staff and programs.

In order for the best services and education to be offered to children, our schools and employees must work together. Whether you are the boss or a fellow colleagues, everyone has to treat each other with respect. Staff members behaviors and attitudes are what shape the minds of our children and children observe everything in their surroundings. If co-workers can support each other and take an interest in each other development, then children can benefit from all the knowledge that surrounds them. Professional development days helps staff get to know each other and learn how their differences can come together to benefit the programs. Watching teachers work together shows our children,  families and community how dedicated we are in the field of early childhood education.
